The Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) is an international initiative of the UN Global Compact and UN Women. A statement of support for WEPs was signed by Taras Panasenko, co-founder and CEO of Aurora. In doing so, the Company is taking another important step in advancing gender equality and contributing to the global movement to empower women in the workplace, marketplace and community, as set out in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
The Women's Empowerment Principles are the following:
Principle 1 High-Level Corporate Leadership.
Principle 2 Treat all Women and Men Fairly at Work without Discrimination.
Principle 3 Employee Health, Well-Being and Safety.
Principle 4 Education and preparation for career growth.
Principle 5 Enterprise development, supply chain and marketing practices.
Principle 6 Community initiatives and advocacy.
Principle 7 Measurement and Reporting.
What are the benefits of signing the WEPs?
The signatories demonstrate better results in achieving gender equality compared to other companies, which has a positive impact on business development, increasing customer loyalty, improving working conditions and building the image of a progressive socially responsible company that cares about sustainable development, employees and the community.
The WEPs have already been signed by 25 Ukrainian companies. Now Aurora is among them. Signing the statement is only the first step. Next, the Company will conduct a self-assessment. The next steps include developing and implementing a gender equality action plan, participating in training and public events, mentoring, monitoring, evaluation and reporting, reviewing the action plan and further implementation.
