On August 13, the traditional Donor Day was held. This time 56 Aurora employees donated blood. We were pleased to see new and familiar faces, solo donors and entire teams of departments joining the collective donation to support an important initiative.
This is not the first time that IT Department employees have taken part in corporate donations. Among them are the brothers Irakli and Tymur Dzhakeli.
“I donate blood with my brother. We also invited and involved our IT colleagues in this good deed. We decided to become donors because our blood can really save someone. After a donation, you always feel good because you have done such a noble cause. If someone has doubts about whether to donate blood or not, they shouldn’t hesitate, because everyone’s blood is very valuable, especially in times of war,” Irakli said.
“In addition to helping people who need blood or its components, donating is also good for your own health. So, I can advise you to make up your mind once and then you won’t be afraid,” Tymur added.
The team of the Legal Department demonstrates an exemplary attitude to blood donation. Roman Verbliud, Pavlo Zybin, Tetiana Sokol, Vladyslava Dotsenko, Dmytro Taranenko, Maryna Kukhta and others regularly come to donate.
“Blood donation is an important deed. Knowing that my blood can save someone’s life is an incredibly driving incentive to donate. I feel satisfied that I can do something useful for a particular person and society,” Tatiana Sokol says.
The team tries to follow all the recommendations of doctors before donating blood. They rest, drink plenty of water, avoid heavy physical activity and eat right.
“You can start with small steps – try to make an appointment for a consultation or medical examination before donating blood to get recommendations from doctors. After the donation, I always feel satisfied that I have done such a good deed,” Maryna Kukhta explained.
Vladyslava Dotsenko is convinced that the best motivation is to help others.
“You can save a person by spending just 15 minutes of your time, and it doesn’t hurt at all.”
On October 17, after a mandatory 60-day break between whole blood donations, the next Aurora Donor Day will take place.
